"Lessons learned"

Most of the time we get it right, sometimes we get it wrong but often, we think that we could do better.

A forum for sharing lessons learned around New Zealand has been established by the NZSAR Secretariat.  This is an opportunity to consider and incorporate evolving knowledge into your own procedures and training. SAR personnel are encouraged to participate in this process through their affiliated organisations.

The Link newsletter also publishes selected “lessons” for the benefit of the wider sector.

Lessons are not necessarily mistakes; we also reinforce success by sharing the things we do well.

Training – what's available?

SAR personnel training ensures groups possess the range of skills and experience needed for search and rescue incidents in their locality and region.

Awards

Two annual national awards have been established by the NZSAR Council to recognise worthy achievements in the field of search and rescue in the NZSAR Region.

Upcoming Events

The NZSAR Calendar displays information on upcoming training, workshops, SAR exercises, meetings and other NZSAR events. If you have an event coming up that you would like included on the calendar, please submit the event details.
