The vision of the Ministry of Transport is to lead transport solutions for New Zealand.
Organisation
We work to implement the Government’s New Zealand Transport Strategy (NZTS) which aims to create an affordable, integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable transport system.
The Ministry provide leadership to other organisations in the transport sector and are guided by our vision and our values which include integrity, communication, people matter, leadership, positive relationships and effective action.
SAR Role
The Secretary of Transport is the Chair of the Search and Rescue Council and the Ministry houses the Search and Rescue Secretariat.
